Tech News for the Day, Thursday, October 1, 2009

Hey, you ever heard of the Chumby? Yes, that lovely little Wi-Fi enabled device won the heart of gadget-lovers everywhere. It has a sequel now called the Chumby One. Yes, that is the second one, and yes, that is confusing.

SanDisk has some new memory cards available for the PSP, PSP Go, and Nintendo DSi. Check it out here.

AT&T has come out with the TerreStar Genus, the first phone that is capable of cellular and satellite transmissions.

Sharper Image is back with a Rotating Speaker System for the iPod and iPhone. It is one of several Sharper Image products that I will be covering in the next few months.

Here’s a concept device that I wish I had right now, a Solar Blind that absorbs sunlight during the day, and powers your electronic gadgets at night.

This next device is right out of the awesome sci-fi movie Aliens. It even has the same name as the tech from that movie: the Power Loader.

Sony True and False: PSP Go, true, weird ad campaign, false

Okay, today is the day that the new Sony PSP, the PSP Go is hitting the shelves. Yes, with its sliding screen and other cool stuff, I’m sure some of you have already been and gone to the store to get one.

What is not true is this bizzare ad campaign.

WiFi-enabled bathroom puts your diet online

withings-scale-us-modelI’ve heard that if you want to begin a habit, then you need to make yourself accountable to someone else. So for those that want to pray more, read the bible, or something else spiritual should just have a friend ask about it daily. You will find that your friend might do a better job than you want them to.

I suppose you could apply this to a diet. In fact, you should use the Withings first WiFi-enabled bathroom scale. All you need to do is stand on it, and it records body weight, lean/fat mass, calculated body mass index (BMI), and then puts it online. There is even an app for the iPhone.
