Of Chainsaws and Wi-Fi

I hope you had a good weekend. Mine was mildly pleasant. I’d like to tell you a problem that I encountered with technology that is worth sharing.

The first occurred on Saturday. It happened when one of my mother’s friends came over and couldn’t get their laptop to work on my wireless network. Needless to say, complications ensued as my mother called our neighbor, and, after hours of troubleshooting and such, my mother’s friend was still unable to get her Dell laptop to sync with my wireless network. Isn’t it amazing how technology, in its efforts to make our lives easier, actually complicated them more.

The next day, I was doing a task of cutting up of a log for firewood, and I decided to use a manual saw. Now, I had access to a chainsaw, and I’m not certain why I didn’t use it. Maybe my bad Wi-Fi incident the previous day caused me to lose faith in technology.

In other word, I didn’t use the chainsaw because I didn’t want the trouble of getting out the extension cord, and was worried that I couldn’t make it work, and blah, blah, blah.

In short, don’t let your faith in technology die because it sucked one day. Generally, it will work later, in some other arena.
