Tech News for the Day, Wednesday, January 6, 2009

I went to CES Unveiled last night, so much of what you read is going to be from there:

The Klipsch LightSpeaker has both light and sound capability.

You really need to check out the Parrot’s AR.Drone. It. Is. Awesome.

Sharper Image Roman Clock Speaker rocked my world with sound and iPod-dock-ness.

Speaking of iPod docks, check out the Edifier Luna 5 Encore.

Bluetrek and Dial-2-Go are teaming up for some texting via headsets. Not bad, really.

Check out Beejive, which allows you to IM anywhere.

Logitech has just bought Lifesize, and were showing it off.

Sharper Image has put out an LED Entertainment Projector. Looks good.

This Navigation and Battery Cradle for the iPod Touch by Dual Electronics Corp. looks quite cool.

Here’s another Internet-everywhere device for the road: the Cydle M7.

2010: The Year we make contact

A70-6962I am sure that some of you reading this blog can remember when the movie 2010 was in the theaters. It was at the tail end of 1984, and I suppose we were all relieved that George Orwell’s visions didn’t come to pass. Unfortunately, neither did the dreams of Mr. Arthur C. Clarke.

Yes, if science fiction lived up to its dates, then we would have had sentient computers and manned missions to Jupiter by the year 2001. As it was, 2001 was greatly marred by tragedy thanks to 9/11.

Let us be thankful that we don’t have the world that 2010 showed. In the movie, the United States and Russia were on the brink of war. Still, I don’t think we are close to the contact with aliens.

Still, I do remember a line from the film:
“Something is about to happen…”
“What?”
“something wonderful”

I would be glad to meet 2010 with this sort of attitude. You cannot deny that God is moving.

The new year is always so exciting because it is a marker for change.
We really don’t know what’s on the horizon, but what if it was something good?

Just thought I would share that for the day.

We are here in Las Vegas, enjoying CES!

Right now, I am here in Las Vegas for CES. The Consumer Electronics Show is one of the largest meetings of electronics professionals in the world. Gathered at the Venetian/Sands Casino and the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC), the biggest and smallest consumer electronics companies meet here with company buyers, not to mention members of the media.

I, and my friend Ikester, are here. Yes, we two Christians are here in Sin City to report on the latest in tech, for you. We went to CES Unveiled last night, and it was pretty amazing. CES Unveiled is a media-only event that is sort of a sneak preview show before the show. Most of what I found I put in the Tech News for the Day.

Tonight, it is Pepcom, a big Digital experience, and I will be there as well. You will hear about it. We’ll have a lot about that all the rest of this week. Stay tuned.

Irreverent Reverence Day 6: Building Up Babel

This last post was written a year ago, which is obvious, as I mention that I am in Las Vegas for CES 2009. I am actually now in Vegas for CES 2010, and I believe that the meaning is still accurate.

Check out Genesis 11-12 and Matthew 5 and then read the entry of the day here.
