Vintage Soda Watch

Vintage SodaSo, this is a review of a watch, and it is not a smart one. This doesn’t meant it is a dumb one! This is by Vintage Soda, why soda? It’s bubbly, it’s sweet, it’s delicious! Actually, it uses the style of vintage soda, which is…very smart.

Yes, normally I don’t cover a regular watch here on this site because watches are kind of passe, really. Most people don’t even have one, and smartwatches are supposed to take their place, but really haven’t, honestly. Most people just look on their phone to see the time, after all.

vintage soda watchBasically, the Vintage Soda watch has a bottle cap for a second hand. Seriously, there is a bottle cap in the watchface that almost blocks out the hour and minute hands.

That isn’t the only thing that makes the Vintage Soda unique. The straps are interchangeable, and they have Nylon, Leather, and Stainless Steel. It also has some signature packaging that looks like…a soda bottle. I am totally serious about that.

Seriously, you should check this out, because like a lot of my stories, this particular one is a Kickstarter project. That means it will take your funding to get it off the ground, but it has, at this writing, over 20 percent of its financial goals after a day, so it should make its goals after the end of the month. Still, if you want to give it some help and get yourself a Vintage Soda Watch in the process, click here for more information.

This Hyetis Watch has a 41-Megapixel Camera

hyetisI have said before that we are probably headed into an age of the smartwatch, and this Hyetis Crossbow watch could be one of the most gourmet smartwatches that I have ever seen.

The Hyetis Crossbow watch has a 41-Megapixel camera, which is an incredible resolute (as in, high in resolution) camera. This particular watch allows for connecting anything of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC wireless technology. If you have the Crossbow, you can check your messages, weather, and email on the timeface, somehow. It also has an inductive charging pod, which I am assuming means that there is some wireless charging going on here.

In case you are wondering, this does cost, a lot. It should cost about $1,200, and there are no pre-orders being taken as yet.

Flip Alarm Clock is your wake-up service

Flip Alarm ClockDo you remember that episode of Seinfeld where Elaine has a champion runner friend who misses his biggest races because he can’t wake up on time? His problem always has to do with alarm clock trouble.

I honestly believe that we have all had alarm clock trouble. I remember a few weeks in my life where I just couldn’t get my alarm clock to work, for some odd reason. In all honesty, I don’t know people who use alarm clocks since most of us have alarm functions on our phones.

However, I believe that the Flip Alarm Clock is needed if you are dependent on the alarm clock by your nightstand. I honestly don’t think that I even need to tell you how it works. You flip it and it is on, and you flip it when you need to turn it off. Even though it is easier to push a button to turn the alarm function on and off, I personally don’t want to fiddle with buttons when I am quickly awakened or tired enough to go asleep.

You should be able to get the Flip Alarm Clock for £28.99 in blue, lime green, purple, and red.

SmartFitty Advanced Smartwatch

smartfittywatchesI can’t help but wonder if we are heading into some era of the smartwatch, as there have been a lot of news from the big Apple about how they are developing a smartwatch of some kind.

Right now, the smartwatch market isn’t too big. I know that I recently reported on the Mio Alpha watch, which links to a phone via Bluetooth for fitness apps. The SmartFitty smartwatch is ready to embrace the era of smartwatches, much better than the I’m Watch from I’m Smart.

The SmartFitty is made for many activities. You will receive notifications for incoming calls, incoming email, incoming text, iMessages not to mention calendar reminders, Facebook messages, Facebook posts, and Twitter.

As a fitness monitor, it has an activity monitor into the watch to track the number of steps you take. You can then put that data into some charts and graphs. By the way, the watch works nights as it tracks sleep patterns as well.

Yes, there are a lot of built-in apps on the SmartFitty. In fact, there is a gambling app for BlackJack that allows for counting cards so you can bet at the right time. Yes, this makes the watch illegal in 20 states, including, and not surprisingly, Nevada.

What attracted me to the SmartFitty was it was described to me in an email as “a James Bond watch”. It is very versatile for a watch, and Bond had some really cool ones over the years. The SmartFitty is full of tricks, that is for sure, but it has no built-in laser. It is sleek, like something Bond would wear with stainless steel and and black leather strap.

Right now, this is an Indiegogo project, and you can read more about it here. You can get it for the $125 Early Bird and $140 for pre-order. If it ever gets to the point where you will find it in a retail store, the price will be about $135.
