At this point in my life as a reviewer, I review an Olloclip product a year. If for some reason that you haven’t heard of Olloclip, they create these photo lenses made for smartphones, particularly for the iPhone, that allow for focuses and a fish-eye lens. The Pivot is essentially a holder for one of their Olloclip lenses, and I’ll start with a disclaimer saying that the Olloclip lens, like the one I reviewed last year, is not included.
It does come with a handle which has that threaded Universal Mounting thing on it. On this particular handle is a button that allows for some rotation, about 225 degrees of spinning. You can see that circle in the middle which allows you to stick your finger for extra support.
The end result is a device that reduces the shakiness in your video. The Pivot also has a Universal Clamp, a 1/4-20 mount for a GoPro adapter. There is also some kind of cold shoe mount so you can put on one of those flash things.
By now, if you are not familiar with my reviews of Olloclip, then you know that I never give them bad reviews. There is a lot of love, work, and care put in Olloclip products, and the Pivot is available for about $49.99 on the Olloclip site.
It has been a long time since I have reviewed a good Olloclip product, and I would love to say they are the best of their type. Seriously, I am not certain if any company makes such great lenses for smartphones, particularly iPhones. I was pretty glad to review their latest product for the iPhone 7/7 Plus with the Olloclip Core Lens Set.
Most of the time, the Olloclip products are made for specific sizes of iPhones, but the Core Lens Set is made for both the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus at the same time. So no matter what one you have, you can use it.
If you aren’t familiar with Olloclip products, their latest models have been able to snap on the top of the iPhone, and then you have improved camera action. In this case, the Core Lens Set has a lot of lenses for it. One of them is a Super-Wide with over 120 field-of-view, and so you can capture a lot of width with your shots. Another is the Macro 15 X with 15 X magnification, and you can attach a Fisheye with a spherical effect.
What is interesting is how you can insert these lenses with a spring-loaded snap-in, and I wouldn’t be surprised if their Connect Lens system is patented. It is unique, but it is so unique that you might see it on some other product. Best of all, you can mount a lens and then flip it to the lens on the other side. It is highly convenient.
What is also convenient is how the Olloclip has a necklace mount and a clip as well. This pendant stand can be opened up and then used as a pocket-sized tripod, which is just even more cool! If you don’t believe me, check it on your right!
In short, this is one of the greatest lens holders for an iPhone that there is! You should be able to purchase it on the Olloclip site for $99.99.
Oh yes, we are reviewing another Olloclip product today, and if you are thinking it will be another lens for the camera, you would be wrong. This particular Studio is made to help those that want to photograph with the iPhone, but in a different way.
I’m not certain if I can describe how this works, but you can see an interesting black line on the back of the case. The reason that this black line is here was for mounting stuff, and you will like what you can mount here. To mount the accessories, it is simple as putting them on and sliding them, but you can’t slide them too far or they will fall off. That makes sense if you try it.
One of the things is a finger grip which allows the user to put the iPhone in between two fingers, and then film or taking pictures, switching from portrait to landscape on the fly. There also two “cold shoe adapters” allowing the user to attach some accessories like a microphone or light, and it offsets the iPhone directly along the centerline.
Then there are two clips designed to attach a tripod, with a threaded hole designed for that screw thing on most accessories. One of these accessories is good for portrait, and another is for landscapes. The last is a kickstand, which allows the iPhone to be used as a display for watching TV content.
I’m hoping that the other illustration that I have provided here will show how these accessories are mounted, and it really works. The two-finger one is pretty cool, and the tripod mounts are pretty great as well. You should be able to get the Olloclip Studio on the Olloclip site for $89.99.
Sure, I have done a lot of reviews on Olloclip products, and I’m pretty certain that I have reviewed every product in the catalog. Today, it is the all-new Olloclip Active Lens for the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus.
If you aren’t familiar with the Olloclip, where have you been? Seriously, they are like one of the leading producers of lenses for smartphones. It used to be that you had to clip the lenses on the corner of the smartphone, but this led to them changing models all the time because smartphone models change all the time. For the iPhone 6, there were two models out with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, and the Olloclip models are compatible with both.
The Active lens has a Telephoto on one side and an Ultra-Wide on the other. Now, the Ultra-Wide is to give your phone an “action camera” point-of-view for things like panoramic landscapes and even widescreen FaceTime shots. The Telephoto lens has 2x optical zoom for getting closer to the action with narrower depth-of-field.
What makes this Olloclip good is that it has these wearable pendants that come in three colors which are Black, Orange, and Red. It is available on the Olloclip site for about $99.99.
One thing about Olloclip is that they have a way of putting out a new product every once in a while, and I am quite fortunate to review them. The last time was the 4-in-1 Photo Lens for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, and I got a chance to review the Telephoto and Macro 3-in-1 Photo Lenses fro the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
One of the most terrific things about those lenses is how they both work for the either the regular or XL iPhone (or iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus). The frames can clip on whatever model you are sporting in just seconds, and it is made to hang around your neck conveniently when not in use. Also, there are three different colors of this frame that include black, blue, and green.
I’ll start with the Telephoto + Circular Polarizing Lens (CPL) and it allows for a 2X magnification optical lens, which is good for both photos and videos (see above). Not only will this lens get you twice as close to a subject, but the CPL will give you a more creative depth of field and richer colors to make a subject stand out in the backgrounds.
Then there is the Macro 3-in-1 lens which is made for capturing close-up shots (seen here to the right). It is good for 7X, 14X, and 21X magnifications with some interchangeable lens action going on for more than 80x magnification with the iPhone’s digital zoom.
The Macro 3-in-1 lens allows for nicely diffused light and less pincushion distortion, and their Instafocus hoods are specifically designed to diffuse the light for good focus.
All in all, I’m going to recommend the Olloclip products, because they are always good. You can get the Telephoto + CPL Lens for about $99.99 here on the Olloclip site, and the Macro 3-in-1 Lens for about $69.99 here.
I have a lot of experience doing with Olloclip, so much so that I won’t even bother putting hyperlinks to my last review. I might as well include the Galaxy S5 review.
I know what to expect from these Olloclip products from what I reviewed in the past. For those who are not familiar with Olloclip, they are lenses that you can put on your smartphone for some cool pictures. Like most other Olloclip products, it has four particular lenses that include Fisheye, Wide-angle, Macro 10X, and Macro 15X.
What is interesting about the iPhone 6 models is it can be used for both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. I’ve never heard of any Olloclip model that is compatible like that. This would be like an iPhone 5 accessory that is compatible with the iPhone 5C. Normally, the Olloclip is made to clip on to the width of the iPhone, but this is designed to clip on the thickness of it.
Then there is another bonus: it can work on both the front and rear-facing cameras. This is because, as I said before, this version of the Olloclip clips on the thickness of it. So if you want to use the Wide-angle lens on your selfies and then a Macro to see things further away on the rear camera, that can happen.
All this, and another bonus. One of the issues with the Olloclip is that it had to be put on quickly, but that can be inconvenient. You can put this version of the Ollclip on a pendant that it comes with. Actually, it has three pendant clips.
Well, I got this Olloclip iPhone 6 to test out, and it is available for pre-order here for $79.99.
I think you all know that I love me some Olloclip products. It seems like whenever I think I have seen it all from them, something new comes my way. In this case, this might be the first one for a non-Apple product that I have reviewed.
In fact, it is for the Galaxy S5, which is now my personal smartphone. The Olloclip for the Samsung Galaxy S5 is a terrific way of altering the view of the smartphone by just clipping on a lens. This one is a 4-in-1, and it has the usual Fisheye, wide-angle, 10X Macro, and 15X Macro set of lenses. When I say usual, it is the pattern of most Olloclip products.
This Olloclip can snap right onto the S5, and I actually tried it out on a Galaxy S3 and it seemed to be nigh compatible. When I say nigh, I mean that I would trust it to stay on an S3. It does stay on very well for the Galaxy S5.
So, I highly recommend this Olloclip for the Galaxy S5 if you have one. You can find it on the Olloclip site, but I don’t have a price just yet. I highly recommend you pre-order it.
Most of you regular readers know that I have reviewed Olloclip products before. I have reviewed the Macro 3-in-1 photo lens for the iPhone 5, the 4-in-1 iPhone lens, and the Quick-Flip Case. I gave all of these products high marks for what they do, and so I cannot help but give praise to the 4-in-1 Photo Lens for the iPad.
Like most Olloclip products, this is made for clipping to the corner of the device. It is made to improve your photos or videos with the help of a fisheye, wide-angle, 10 X Macro, or 15 X Macro lens. The fisheye and wide-angle lenses are made to screw on and off for a quick adjustment. The defaults are the 10 X and 15 X Macro, and there is a carrying case for the other screw-ons.
Yes, it is very similar to other Olloclip products, and it is also made of aircraft grade aluminum and precision-ground, coated glass optics. You can get it on the Olloclip site for about $69.99.
I have been reviewing a lot of Olloclip, and when I heard about the 3-IN-1 Photo Lens for the iPhone 5/5S, I thought I had reviewed it before. Nope, it was the 4-in-1 Lens.
This Macro 3-IN-1 is one of those the clip on the corner of the camera lens type of accessories for the iPhone 5, and thus the iPhone 5/S. Like most of their products, it is made by anodized aircraft grad aluminum.
There is an Instafocus Hood that can stand alone and be used as a magnifying glass. This screw-on hood allows for three levels of magnification with 7X without the hood, and 21X super high magnification with a tighter field of view.
It is really interesting to see what Olloclip has out, and I look forward to seeing what they will have in the future. It is available on the Olloclip site for $69.99.
Yes, I have reviewed Olloclip products before, and the 4-in-1 lens reminds me of the Optrix PhotoProX that I reviewed a few years ago.
I’m going to try and see if I can describe this as clear as I can. You see in the picture the corner piece that fits on the corner of an iPhone? On each side of those corners is a different lens. On one side is a 10x Macro lens with 18mm focus distance. On the other side is a 15x Macro Lens with 12mm focus distance.
On each side of this corner piece is a threaded ring so you can screw on a Wide-Angle or Fisheye lens. The Wide-Angle is good for that extra field of view, and the Fisheye does that 180 degree effect for a very interesting point of view.
The best part is how easily portable it is. It has a small bag and lens cover, so it just easily goes on and off as you will need it.
Yes, it is quite simple to use, and you can get it on the Olloclip site for about $69.99. Right now, it is only available for pre-order, but it will become available sometime in November.
