Matias iFold Portable Stand and Cooling Pad

Matias iFold 2I was pretty pleased to review another Matias product, and instead of another keyboard like the Ergo Pro Keyboard, this is a laptop accessory known as the iFold.

As you can see in the first illustration, the iFold is a way of putting your laptop so it is at eye level. After trying it out, it is handy to have, but you will need to use another keyboard like that aforementioned Matias one. Why not? They are terrific products.

Matias iFoldIn case you are wondering why it is called the iFold, I have included this second picture to the left so you can see how it folds up. It is actually quite cool and easy to figure out, and just these pictures alone with the product are all the accessory origami instructions that you will need. Since it folds up neatly, it makes it portable, and there is a bag that it comes with.

What is interesting is how you can put the laptop on the folded up iFold, and it will give an “open air” design to keep the laptop cool and quiet. This could extend the life of your computer, not to mention the battery.

You can get this on the Matias site for about $59.95.

STM Haven Laptop Backpack

STM Haven Laptop BackpackThere is nothing like a good STM products, and they make a lot of them. It has been a few weeks since I received the Atlas Wallet case before the iPhone 6/6S and iPhone 6/6S Plus. Now we will be doing the Haven Laptop Backpack.

So I have reviewed a lot of laptop backpacks on this site. In this case, the main pocket can probably both hold a tablet and a 15 inch laptop. The next pocket has a bunch of pockets including a zippered pocket, there is a strange hole in this, which looks to be made for the earbuds or cord or something.

Yeah, it holds an elastic power pocket for the laptop’s charging brick, a place for sunglasses, and much more. For exmaple, there is an internal document sleeve, so you can put in stuff like file folders and not get them wet. Why not wet? Well, as it turns out, the backpack has some water resistant fabric.

All in all, it is quite a good way to transport your laptop, and it comes in black, frost gray, Moroccan blue, and steel. It costs about $99.95 on the STM website.

Lenovo YOGA 900 and YOGA Home 900

YOGA Home 900 for productivityLenovo announced the YOGA 900 and the YOGA Home 900, and they are two new Windows 10 PCs.

The YOGA 900 is a very thin convertible laptop with a 13.3 inch QHD (3200 x 1800) screen and a watchband hinge with 800 intricately woven individual pieces. The purpose of the convertible laptop is the conversion between laptop and tablet modes. The battery has been heightened to over 50 percent more, and it has a Samsung Solid State Drive.

As far as the YOGA Home 900 Portable All-in-One Desktop is concerned, this has about three hours of battery life. The screen is absolutely huge at 27-inch screen, which means that you will be looking around this thing as a family, which I believe is the purpose of its creation with its AURA 3.0 interface. I’m not certain how much of this will be a portable computer, but it really has an NVIDIA GeForce 940A graphics and an Intel 5th Gen Core i7 processor.

The Lenovo YOGA 900 will start at $1,199.99 will come in a variety of colors including clementine orange, platinum silver, and champagne gold. The Lenovo YOGA Home 900 will start at $1,549.00.

Case Logic Part 1: Griffith Park Deluxe Backpack and 15.6″ Laptop and 10.1″ Tablet Attache

Case Logic Griffith Park Deluxe BackpackI know I usually say that it has been a while since I reviewed some product, and I honestly can’t say if I reviewed a Case Logic product, ever. This is a real shame, and today I’ll be reviewing two cases from Case Logic.

The first is Griffith Park Deluxe Backpack, named after that park in Santa Monica. It is made for Apple products, like a 15-inch MacBook Laptop as well as an iPad. It has a rucksack opening, which I assume means that it can be clinched closed with this weird quick release clip. You can fit a lot in besides a laptop and tablet, let me tell you.

Then there is pockets, a lot of pockets. There is one in the center on the back, one on the top, and there is one mesh pock on both of the sides. Yes, you are going to have a lot room for your stuff, and it will stay in this backpack comfortably.

If you want to get in on this, you should be able to get it on the Case Logic site for about $89.99.

Case Logic AttacheThen there is the 15.6-inch Laptop and 10.1-inch Tablet Attache. This can do the same thing as the Griffith Park Deluxe Backpack, but not hold as much as anything else.

This doesn’t mean that it is a worse product, but if you need all those other pockets that I described before, then why both with product that has them? Surely an Attache would look much better in the business world rather than the college student look of the Griffith Park Deluxe Backpack. Okay, more people are using backpacks then just college students, but you see what I mean.

Too bad that it isn’t made of leather, as that would look really classy. However, this is both classy and utilitarian with a big pocket on either side.

If this is what you are looking for, then you can purchase it on the Case Logic site for about $49.99.

HP’s Sprout PC is loaded with features

HP SproutEvery once in a while, I see a review of a product that I may never get a chance to try myself, and today it is the Sprout PC. It is a one-piece PC that could easily create a standard.

Sprout is a 23-inch touchscreen that has Windows 8.1, 8 gigabytes of memory, and a terabyte hard drive. In addition to the wireless mouse and keyboard, it has a 20-inch mat. The mat locks with the touchscreen and it is an extension of the touchscreen.

Why is that important? Maybe it is because the Sprout has a projector that can shine on the mat so you can use it as a touchscreen. The mat can be used as a scanner, and there is even an attachment to make this a 3-D scanner as well. Then there is a stylus and lots of apps.

Now, this was a review from David Pogue, who is a famous gadget reviewer. He says that “in its 1.0 version, it’s teetering on the brink of failure”. I would not mind having this in my own home, and take it on the road myself.

The Acer hybrid Aspire R 13 Convertible Notebook

Acer Aspire R 13 SeriesLast week, Apple’s big announcement sort of eclipsed all kinds of other big announcements from tech companies. I might as well take the time now to cover the Acer Aspire R 13 convertible Notebook.

I am assuming that this is some sort of new type of device, and it has an Ezel Aero hinge that can rotate its 13.3 inch screen into a twelve different positions. One of those positions is 180 degrees, and the screen is a full touch with compatibility with the Acer Active Pen. It has a Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, and up to 1TB Solid State Drives and 8 GB of memory.

I believe that the Aspire R 13 has several modes like Stand, Tent, and Display. Each of them remind me of computers that I have reviewed before like the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S. Another bonus is that the screen has anti-fingerprint technology, and it prices for about $899.99.

Henge Docks Vertical Docking Station for the MacBook Pro with Retina Display

HengedocksYou have to admire the company Henge Docks, and how they are well-prepared for those who have a MacBook Pro. Chances are, if you have a MacBook Pro, you use it to interact with another laptop, desktop, or even a home theater. Of course, if you do that, then you are going to have some serious cable clutter.

That is, unless you get the Vertical Docking Station. This particular device is made so you can just plug and play. That is, you just plug it in so it lines up with the two Mini DisplayPorts, USB 3.0, and the Audio, and it is ready to interface with whatever computer or theater you want it to.

It is compatible with Apple Thunderbolt displays and cables, and there are side and rear vents for maximizing cooling. It also has a sleek metal finish to fit in with the Apple design aesthetic.

Enough about the features, let’s talk about the ease of use. I highly recommend a subtle plug in with the Vertical Docking Station at first, as you don’t want to be off. In other words, don’t wiggle it and it should get easier to plug in and out every time.

If you like this, you should get over to the Henge Docks site and lay down about $119 for it, available for 13-inch and 15-inch MacBooks.

Perfect Choice Canvas 15-inch Laptop and Tablet Briefcase

SkyMall StuffAs most of you know, I do a lot of product reviews. Just to let you know, there is a process I go through to receive a review unit, but sometimes, like this particular Canvas 15-inch Laptop and Tablet Briefcase from Perfect Choice, they just were sent to my house.

This particular briefcase can fit a 15-inch laptop and 10-inch tablet. It has pockets on the inside for both of them with soft corduroy lining, and the outside has a durable canvas fabric that is covered with waxing for water resistance. I guess you can take it out in the rain, but I wouldn’t put it underwater.

Other features include a padded shoulder strap as well as two external quick-access slip pockets. These pockets seem to have some magnetic thing going on so they snap shut quickly. If you want it, you can get it on the Sky Mall catalog for about $99.99 in Cappuccino or Navy.

Touch Screen Camera turns any laptop screen into a touchscreen

Turn_Your_Regular_Laptop_into-a-touchscreenI’m sure that some members of my audience are reading this post with a laptop. Of those readers, you may be regretting that you didn’t buy a touchscreen laptop. Considering that Windows 8 is touchscreen-optimized, I can see why.

If you want a touchscreen for your non-touchscreen laptop, you can always get a Touch Screen Camera. What it is an attachment to your laptop which uses a camera and a battery powered pen so it knows where your touching. With it, you can now touch icons for opening, writing, and drawing.

In addition to the touchscreen feature, the Touch Screen Camera can be used like a webcam. Not bad for a product that costs only $43.

STM Blazer Small Laptop Sleeve

STM laptop sleeveI had a chance to try out STM’s products at CES, as they were nice enough to give away a laptop bag like this as I came through the door.

This particular Blazer allows for carrying around a 13-inch laptop, and it has a zippered pocket made for all kinds of accessories as well. There is also a pocket on the front made for holding a phone as well. The strap is handy as it is removable, and it is all pretty well and good.

If you want it, you can go to sites like Amazon and pay about $35.58 for it. I don’t know how long that price will stay that way.
