Check out this foldable bike helmet

foldable-bike-helmet-0-thumb-550xauto-82500One of the problems that I have with helmets is: they take up a lot of space. I recently took a road trip and some new helmets that were recently bought for my kids took up a lot of trunk room.

Fortunately, Patrick Jouffret and engineer Philippe Arrouart are working on the “Overade” helm which is full of lots of fold-able parts so you can keep your helmet…well, not in the back of your pocket, but at least in some smaller form.

Apparently, these designers have been working on this helmet for a while (since 2010), and there is no word on when it will be finished or available.

As a blogger, I tried to speed things along by writing about it and hopefully see it become a reality.

ZAGG, it actually stands for something

ZAGG SparqEver since I saw ZAGG many years ago, I have been trying to keep up with them. The Invisible Shield, a film that covers both the front and back of a mobile device, offers the ultimate in protection.

The company has been doing a lot more since then, as ZAGG puts out headphones with their smartbuds, not to mention the aquabuds.

ZAGG also provides power for devices with a dual USB car charger, and the Sparq, which can charge up USB devices.

By the way, ZAGG also owns a company called iFrogz, which does some pretty incredible headphones. They also have HZO, which is working on water-proofing electronic devices.

I mentioned in the headline that ZAGG means something: I don’t know if it is official, but apparently ZAGG is an acronym for Zealous About Great Gadgets.

Protect your iPhone with Wrapsol

iphone4_20110504164343_thumb_222_230_7I’m not certain if you have ever heard of Wrapsol before, but you might have heard of similar products.

Products like Wrapsol put a mobile device in a protective film wrap, to protect it from drops and scratches. It does this while preserving the touchscreen integrity.

It covers both the front and back of the device itself, as you can see from the iPhone in the picture.

You should be able to purchase wrapsol at its official site. The one for the iPhone costs about $29.95, and the others that cover other mobile devices are similar in cost.

The next artistic masterpiece could be done on this typewriter

chrmtyp09a7ga-thumb-550xauto-80000This is what Tyree Callahan called the Chromatic Typewriter, and it is an entry to the 2012 West Collects “West Prize Competition”. This is really where art meets writing.

This is assuming that you can paint your works the way you type a work. It is a simple 1937 Underwood Standard typewriter with a veritable palette on its keys. It looks like that Shift key comes in handy.

Of course, this really makes your color range white limited. Could someone create a software program of the same type?

The device is a prototype, but you should be able to get it for about $3,000-5,000 if it ever gets mass-produced. It is a lot to pay for this art.

My New Year’s Resolutions for 2012

Well, for those of you who have seen this blog, I can see why you haven’t been impressed with it.

Yeah, all it has been for the last two years is links to the other blogs that I write for, which change like fashion.

However, since it is a new year, everyone is trying to turn over a new leaf, or turn a new leaf over, or something. This is all the times where we all claim that we are going to go on diets, or something.

In my case, it is really time to make this blog a blog, with more original footage!

So, starting tomorrow, we will be writing articles about stuff and no more sentences with links. Yeah-hah!

Uzi Tatical Pen

This is the Uzi Tactical Pen. Just so you know, it is not a pen that can shoot like an Uzi. It would probably have to be larger for that.

Here is what it can do. Imagine that you get mugged by someone like the guy in the picture on the right. Now, you could just escape him, but he could just run away and you would never see him again. How can you press charges against this Bono wannabe without any evidence?

You could stab him with this Uzi Tactical Pen. It has a razor shard DNA catcher that can trap the assailant’s blood sample so the DNA therein can be used against him in a court of law later.

DYMO LabelManager 360D

dymo2I know there are a lot of people out there that have those labelmakers and love to just…label stuff. DYMO is certainly one of the best labelmakers in the biz, and they have made the LabelManager 360D.

The DYMO LabelManager 360D uses a lithium ion battery, which makes the device sort of wireless. It has a screen that has two levels of text-typing ability, and what you see on the screen is what you get.

If you like to know more about this device, then feel free to read my hands-on review here.

Gunnar Optiks Glasses for Gamers

07-1204It really isn’t good to sit around our computers all day, but this is what most of our jobs demand of us. If nothing else, most of us just love to spend time online in all of our spare time.

I’m sure that when you were growing up, you probably had some mother or father who would tell you that television isn’t good for your eyes. They weren’t lying, and you can be darn sure that sitting around the computer all day isn’t good for you either.

This is why Gunnar Optiks has come out with a new line of glasses designed for gamers and other computer addicts. I had a chance to try them out for myself, and you can read more about them here.

Eyepet and the Age of Augmented Reality

While I was at PAX, Sony Playstation had an amazing demonstration of a new game for their new EyeToy camera accessory. The game was simply known as EyePet, and it was pretty much the coolest thing that I saw all that day.

Eyepet allows the user to play with a virtual pet that will only appear on the screen. The eyepet is simply a lovable furry creature that is often found in most “pet” games. What makes it interesting is how the player interacts with the pet.

The player holds up a plastic rectangle the size of a piece of paper, and it has a paw print in the center of it. This serves as sort of an odd sort of controller to this game that really thinks outside the box. With this controller, I was able to wash the virtual pet by moving the rectangular controller to change the angle of spraying. As you can see from the video above, that rectangle comes in handy for a lot of other fun things like an x-ray. You can read more about the EyePet here.
