It seems like we are constantly finding new ways of communication, and I would not mind having a Skype chat with the inFORM. As you can see from the video, which is a way of interacting in three dimensions.
I can’t help but be reminded of those pin-pressions, which was a sort of must-have for coffee tables back in the eighties. Remember those plastic boxes bull of dull metal pins tho imprint your face? Imagine that, but you can control it via Kinect and make some really, interesting shapes besides your face. it reminds me of a display used in the first X-men film.
In addition to the shapes, there seems to be some sort of weird color-changing ability. The vid shows how a graph is “flicked” from an iPad and made into a 3-D representation.
Yeah, I would like to try this for myself, but it is currently a research project by the Tangible Media Group of the MIT Media Lab.
