PowerWalk Braces charge your batteries as you go

December 2, 2012 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

It seems like we are getting more and more mobile devices, which means we have to spend more and more time charging them.

Especially for soldiers, who often have to carry around 28 pounds of batteries on the field. I quoted the figure from my Source, who also stated the weight of the batteries is based on a 72-hour mission.

Wouldn’t it be terrific if you had something that absorbs all the kinetic energy that you are working up by walking? This is exactly what Canada’s Bionic Power is working on. The Powerwalk M-Series won’t take up too much weight at 1.7 pounds, and it can generate about 12 watts of electricity at a normal pace.

As you may have guessed, this sort of tech had been under development for years. The company claims that the M-Series could save $135 in batteries, which could add up to $27,000 per soldier.

Personally, I believe that we are living in an age where we are acquiring too many mobile gadgets, and we will soon have to wear devices like the Powerwalk M-Series just to get power to them while we are going to and fro to the places that we love. This is the future, clearly.
