Paravelo Flying Bicycle: Is this Kickstarter Project for real?

July 5, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

paravelo-640x546Some of you might remember when we covered how a group of Czech designers known as Technodat had perfected a flying bike. This here is a Kickstarter project known as Paravelo, the world’s first flying bicycle.

Okay, I just can’t seem to believe in this project. I suppose that the system is sound. Apparently, there is an electric motor to power a fan, and on a single charge, you get three hours of flight. It apparently requires 15 mph to take off, and can reach a top speed of 25 mph at an altitude of 4,000 feet.

The thing is, I didn’t see the video on the Kickstarter site. It does show the bike flying. I am pretty impressed, and it uses one of those parawing systems of soaring.

Okay, you apparently don’t need a license to ride one of these, really? I find that hard to believe considering the potential for accidents, this would not require a license.

Still, this thing has made its £7,917 of its £50,000 goal, which is pretty good for a Kickstarter project. It will probably make its goals. I definitely like it, and I wouldn’t mind taking it out for a fly.
