Okay, considering the proliferation of computers, smartphones, and tablets, does anyone even use pen and paper anymore. I don’t need to sound like the lone writer here, but I have been known to do the first drafts of my writing with pen and paper because it is very, very relaxing. I generally don’t worry about making errors at that point, but imagine if a pen could warn you if you could make a mistake.

This is exactly what the Lernstift is, a pen that will vibrate when you make a mistake. It uses a Linux system with a non-optical motion sensor, and it knows a mistake even if you write in cursive. Yes, it will recognize your handwriting.

This is a Kickstarter project, by two people that saw their child making mistakes in writing, and thought “why can’t we invent a pen that can stop that”. It really is amazing how many inventions begin like that.

Of course, if you make a mistake, and you are writing in pen, do you erase it? Also, what if you mean to write something, and the Lernstift corrects you. Think about how that auto-correct can mess with you when you are text messaging.
