I find this particular item to be incredibly interesting, but I am not certain it has the potential to change the world. It appears to be inspired by those who like to watch TV in their bathtubs.

This is the Aquatop, and it is some new kind of interaction. There is a projector above your bathtub or other pool of water that can create the images.

You will note that a person can not only watch TV, but interact with it like they are on a computer. Splashing seems to be like drag-and-drop, and scooping up water is like grabbing a photo.

Yeah, it is weird, and I can only see it being used in the pool or bath. There are some interesting gaming applications as well, like this weird shooting an energy ray out your hands to hit a rubber ducky. You can watch the video after the jump if you want to see some footage of that.

So, are we looking for a new way of interaction amidst water? I don’t see any way of doing this in a dry way, which makes it awkward to have a shallow tank on a desk. I don’t see this working on a hottub.
