I am always looking for ways to technologically update things that we have been doing for a long time. Grocery shopping is as old as grocery stores, and most of us still use the same system to shop. Granted, some of us can text a grocery list, and this is about the only update from pen and paper.

Still, I would much rather have an easy to make grocery list that I just send out. This is where the Hiku comes in. I can only assume that is pronounced “haiku” like the Japanese poems that have seventeen syllables.

The Hiku is a scanner that allows you to scan food around your household or pretty much everywhere, and then from these scans you can get an entire list. You work with an iOS app to send this list off, and grocery shopping has finally been revolutionized. An Android version is coming soon, in case you were wondering.

The Hiku costs about $80, and has Wi-Fi connectivity, a built-in microphone, and magnetic back so you can stick it on the fridge. Now all we need is a place to send my list, and the groceries will be delivered to my door.
