Optimus Popularis Keyboard: A keyboard of screens

December 23, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

Optimus PopularisIf you have never heard of Art Lebedev, then you really should have. His company, or studio, has put out a lot of cool stuff, and this includes the Optimus Maximus. I first saw the Maximus years ago, and it is essentially a keyboard where each key is a programmable screen.

That’s right, I am talking about a keyboard full of screens. There are about 77 keys that are half-inch square displays (72x72p). I suppose this is good for any time you switch languages while typing, but this isn’t what I would use it for.

No, I would use it to make one-button Macros, and create it so one button leads me exactly where I want to go. In addition to these screen keyboards, there is a 7-inch LCD that allows you to display whatever information that you want.

This really breaks down traditional keyboards for sure, but should we be surprised? After all, most of us are using touchscreens to interact with our smartphones, why not a new system for input.

If you like this, you can get it on ThinkGeek for $2,399.99. Yes, that is a lot.
