Otterbox Preserver, Commuter, and Symmetry cases

January 13, 2014 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

PreserverJust to let you know, I had a chance to try out some Otterbox cases like the ones that you see in the title. The Symmetry one is new at CES 2014, which I didn’t have to try out. I’m going to start with the Preserver.

The Preserver is one of those waterproof cases that allows protection from water and other stuff. Yes, we have reported on this before, so here are the specs: First, it is waterproof, it is fully submersible up to 6.6 feet or 2 feet for up to 30 minutes. I am told this is IP-X8. It is also drop-proof from 6.6 feet (2 meters) as well. Then we got the protection from dust as well.

If you want this, you can get it for about $89.95 on the Otterbox site in several colors.

Commuter Series WalletThis leads to the Commuter case, which is not exactly as impervious as the Preserver. It does have something that I have seen in other cases: an ability to hold credit cards.

Just to let you know, the addition of a credit card drawer (yes, it really looks like that) does add a little bit of thickness to the case. However, if you are willing to have the protection from bumps and scratches, then this is a way to go. You can get the Commuter series on the Otterbox site for about $44.95.

By the way, Otterbox also has the Symmetry Series, which is a one piece design. Both the Commuter and Preserver series are multiple-piece cases. They also have some really interesting colors/patterns, for prices of $39.95-44.95.
