I have talked about that perhaps we are hitting a creative barrier with video games. I mean, video games are all about what can happen with current controllers, unless they can see how you feel.
I remember that when the Kinect came out, the big advertising campaign said: “You are the controller”. Imagine a game that involves just your voice as a controller. This is what is planned for a game known as There Came an Echo, which has an appropriate title for a vocally-controlled game.
Now, what kind of video game could one possibly do with just one’s vocal chords? Well, you know those movies where there is one guy just giving out orders to a bunch of people? Think of that guy Nate on Leverage, which is a show that I’ve discovered on Netflix.
Seriously, the game looks very interesting and really breaks the mold for video games, and I would be surprised if more games implement its gaming style. Iridium plans on releasing this game “soon” to the PS4, which they say was very easy to implement on that system.
