It seems like every time that I hear about Dubai, it is always in the context that it is this real mega-city plucked out of futuristic science-fiction. I have just learned of a new project called the Mall of the World, and I am assuming that it can kick the Mall of America’s butt.
Yeah, Bloomington, Minnesota has nothing on Dubai’s Mall of the World. As you can see in the above video, it has over 20,000 hotel rooms (in 100 hotels and apartment complexes), an 8 million square foot mall, the largest indoor theme park, and a 3-million square foot “wellness district”.
Then there is the 4.5 miles of temperature controlled streets. That’s right, this hot city of Dubai needs an entire air-conditioned neighborhood. Of course, there is no date when this is unveiled, but I can’t believe that this will ever happen. Yeah, I’m one of those “if it’s too good to be true, it probably is” guys. This does look like the type of city in a utopian future, so maybe the day when I visit it, I’ll meet one of those Star Trek aliens.
