Every once in a while, I get something in my Inbox that I just have to report on. Today, it is the Om One Orb Levitating Speaker.
After all, how can I resist a speaker that floats? As you might have expected, the trick is done with some magnets. Not only will the magnets keep the spherical speaker hovering, but it is the way that the speaker charges. That’s right, you can actually take the ball out of play so you can play it somewhere else.
You can see it in action in the video above, and you know that some guys who know sound put this together. They put it together rather well. The Om One can even be paired with another speaker for some real stereo sound.
Other specs that I know is that the Om One has Bluetooth 4.0, an on-off touch sensor, and 15 hours worth of continuous play. Now, this is a crowdfunded project, and it is seeking $100,000. I believe that they will meet their funding goals, quite easily. The Om One should be out by the holidays, for a price of $199. You can get it at an early-bird discount for $179 right here.
