Fortified Game from Clapfoot Games

September 15, 2014 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

FortifiedThis is again a review of a game that I saw at PAXPrime 2014, but it is sadly not out yet. Now the company that makes it, Clapfoot Games, makes several other games like Hero Forge, Sector Strike, and Tank Hero.

Fortified is a game that I want to play because I love retro-futurism. I think this word describes anything that is kind of a mix of what we thought the future would bring us vs. what it actually gave us. I think the best description is Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, which has cool looking robots and rayguns. I don’t think that I reviewed that movie on Speculative Fiction Saturday yet, but it is 10 years old. A more recent example would probably be the first Captain America movie.

Sadly, I don’t really have much info about Fortified other than it looks really retrofuturistic and you can play a rocket scientist. By the way, a rocket scientist is essentially a scientist who wears a rocket pack on his or her back. I guess an example of that would be The Rocketeer.

I asked at the booth at PAXPrime, and the story is about Martians invading. I suppose that it is similar to Mars Attacks! Dang, I’m just coming up with a lot of comparisons for this one. You can find out more about it on the Press kit here, and I recommend finding out about it. Check out the video of the gameplay here.
