Spoiler Alert lets you play a video game in reverse

September 22, 2014 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

When I was at PAXPrime 2014, I had a chance to play Spoiler Alert from Megafuzz Studios and it was like nothing that I ever seen. It started out when I beat the last boss, and the credits rolled.

I thought that I was a victim of some elaborate prank. Suddenly, the credits rolled in reverse, and then I had to play the game backwards. This means that I had to jump on enemies to unkill them, put back coins that I had picked up, and everything else moving from right to left.

This is Spoiler Alert, and it is essentially a rip-off of Super Mario Brothers, but it scrolls in the other direction. You never see how the main character, who is a chili pepper, won the game, but you had better unwin it. You are essentially traveling backward through time, and you had better not not undo your actions, or you will create a Time Paradox and have to start the level over again.

The game started me on Level 30, and I had to learn to do all kinds of tricks like unlaunch my fireballs and all kinds of other things. I hope that you are as sold on this game as I am, even though the premise is quite unusual yet unique. You can check it out on Steam and other platforms, and find out more information about it here.
