We once reported on a technology known as Illumiroom, and it really is quite something if you want to click on the link if you want to see what it is all about. Or you could just click on the link above to the YouTube and see how it works.

For some reason, this technology got a new name with RoomAlive. It uses a bunch of projectors and Kinect sensors that can essentially turn a room into an odd box of fun. Not only can it project images on the walls and floor, but the user can interact with them.

The end result would be what a lot of people call “a poor-man’s holodeck”. For example, the user can touch “Whack-A-Moles” by running around the room or by shooting them with some kind of trick gun.

All in all, it is a pretty neat end result, but it certainly looks pretty expensive to have in every household, don’t you think?
