I’ve been thinking about something that occurred to me nine years ago, when 2010 began. I compared it to the film 2010: The Year We Make Contact, which is a mostly forgotten science-fiction film from 1984, which is yet another important year in science fiction stories. Of course, we did not make contact with an alien race in 2010, but let us thank God that our Los Angeles does not look anything like that of Blade Runner, which is supposed to take place in 2019.
Granted, it is supposed to take place in November of 2019, but I’m pretty certain that we are not going to have off-world colonies or replicants by then. I feel bad for not having the former, but not so much about the latter.
At least our current 2019 doesn’t look like some real dark place like…pretty much every futuristic city in movies. It seems like we love to use the New Year’s as kind of reason for resolution, and start on a good foot.
So yeah, I’m doing that. This year, we really grew as a site, and we now have more viewers than ever. I plan to increase that even more this year. We have a sister site now at The Outdoors Church.
