I have been wanting to review an Anova product for a while, and I was very pleased to finally get my hands on this one. I will have to say that my first impression of the Anova Nano is…shouldn’t it be smaller? Normally, I don’t complain about that, but the term “nano” usually implies a level of compactness. The video that I intend to do (assuming you aren’t reading this after I post this) will show that the Anova Nano is going to take up a lot of drawer space.
Needless to say, I wasn’t certain of this guy when I saw it. I mean, it looks like you put this in your pot by screwing it in the side to mount it, and then…boil your water? Heck, I will just boil my water on a range if I want that type of action. Actually, this is for sous vide.
Are you not familiar with sous vide, it is a way of cooking food with vacuum sealing and chilling. The Anova Nano is designed to pair with your mobile device via Bluetooth 4.2, and thus allow you to monitor the cooking of your sous vide food.
How does this help? Clearly, I am not that masterful of a chef to get it, but apparently, there is only a 3 degree difference between rare and medium-rare and this Anova Nano can do that. There is also an app for that, which allows for cooking of many sous vide recipes.
I’m going to recommend the Anova Precision Cooker Nano if you are into cooking. It is available on the Anova Culinary site for $99.
