It’s always great to review products from a company that I haven’t previously reviewed before. In the case of Bosma, we had the chance to do two. One of them, the Bosma Aegis, a smartlock that is so new that it isn’t even available to the public now, but the other is the Bosma Sentry, a cool smart doorbell.

Spoiler Alert! These products didn’t work for me. This could be my fault, and you’re going to have to read more to find the answer.

Bosma Aegis Smartlock Review

I have explained a lot of this in the video that should be posted below, but I will tell you how the Aegis Smartlock is supposed to work. Installation requires you to tape the deadbolt keyhole part on one side, and then take off the crank part. Then what you do is install this weird part on the inside, and then clip the spinning part for the deadbolt on there. Yeah, that is a little oddly phrased, but this Bosma Aegis is made to bolt the door with a signal from an app or just twist it.

So here’s the thing. It says that it installs in 5 minutes with just a screwdriver, but it took much, much longer. Then, once I had installed it, it didn’t work out with the app. I mean, it was able to bolt the door, but the app didn’t seem to think it was locked properly. Then, because the Bosma Aegis thought my door was not locked, it would not unlock.

Yeah, I had to uninstall it. The issue is that I might not have the best door, because the smartlock that I have on my door constantly says that it is jammed. It’s not, of course, but it still works. Maybe I will try installing this again, and I can enjoy all the features like the door break-in detection, the auto-lock and unlock, and much more.

Maybe I should just see if a new download of firmware is the right answer. I don’t think you can purchase the Bosma Aegis, and you can discover more about it on the Bosma Indiegogo site.

Bosma Sentry Video Doorbell

Now to talk about the Sentry Video Doorbell, which also didn’t work. Here’s how it should have worked. You take out the old doorbell, and then you wire in the Sentry. The issue that I faced is that the wires on my doorbell didn’t really fit. I then had to extend the wires with some twisties from, I don’t know, another device, and I got it to work.

What is great is how the doorbell talked to me, and then there is the somewhat frustrating part. You have to take the darn doorbell out of the thing that I just put it in, and then you have to pair it up. I then actually got it to work, but the issue is that it didn’t stay working.

Yeah, I had to uninstall the Sentry like I did the Aegis. Still, it has Wi-Fi with a super wide angle camera for some advanced motion detection. There is also sound detection, real 2-way audio, as well as a voice message. You can check it out for yourself on the Bosma site for $139.99-$249.99.
