Clearly, digital 3D printers are going to be in everyone’s house in the next few years, and I seem to be seeing all sorts of creations done on a 3D printer lately. Stuff like the Cubify robots, a 3D replica of a fetus, and more.
What about a 3D printer that can make a house? This is something that some architects at 1:1 Arkitektur in the Netherlands have created, which uses a computer that can create puzzle-like pieces out of stack of sustainable wood. The sustainable wood is a good plus, but seriously, you had me a 3D printed house.
It goes from digital printout to a house in about four weeks. I believe that this is house can be created, adapted, and then be made for situations like “coping with reconstruction in aftermath of a natural disaster”.
Personally, I like the idea of these printed homes. We already have manufactured homes, and I like the style of this particular one.
