Disney is one of those big companies that is always easy to target. After all, I think a lot of people both young and old are slightly freaked out by animatronic technology, but imagine if it could be done a lot faster.
Yes, instead of President Lincoln giving a great speech, Disney has figured out a way to put anyone’s face on a robot. It uses 3D motion capture cameras to get the precise shape, density, and composition of synthetic skin and can mimic a human’s expressions. Then what happens is that it calculates how thick or thin the animatronics flesh will be in certain places.
Sure, the “Phyiscal Face Cloning” could make your Disneyland experience a bit more real, but why stop there? If we ever get to the point where we have actually androids like Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation, this could be the method of obtaining facial emotions.
