Some of you might remember the scene from Return of the Jedi where the Emperor sprays Luke Skywalker with lightning. The scene is iconic, of course, but in retrospect, I will have to say that the Emperor suddenly having the power of lightning sort of comes out of nowhere in the story. That lightning scene proved that special effects could realistically reproduce lightning. An effect that was imitated in later movies like Ghostbusters and Big Trouble in Little China.
Apparently, an electrician named Carlos Van Camp just had to play with the lightning. This is why he created the Lords of Lightning, which uses a 25,000 volt capacitor and some special suits to create some of the coolest things you will see all day.
I can’t help but wonder what sort of safety protocols were put in place for this Belfast, Northern Ireland demonstration. I mean, was a section cordoned off so people wouldn’t get accidentally shocked?
Oh, is there a way that I can try this?
