I think that we all know that Augmented Reality could be our future someday, and its applications could be educational as well as that of entertainment. This project, simply called “Touch the Train Window”, is designed to make full use of the entertainment aspect.
Have you ever taken a long trip? I’m sure that you know that it can be quite boring in some places. I’m planning a big trip to Las Vegas for CES, and I know that there are going to be times where my trip will become a slow crawl.
Imagine if you could add things on your window to make the trip much more interesting? Say a hot-air balloon here, a car here, a plane there. Yep, with the help of a Kinect, GPS, and a projector, this is exactly what you will be seeing.
You can watch the video after the jump, and in all honesty, I don’t really see any use for this technology other than to stop the inevitable “Are We There Yet”. This tech will definitely demands the window seat.
I can’t imagine a world where we would need this type of tech to make the world more interesting. I suppose we could make boring flights more fun with dragons flying in the clouds, but why?
