I’m beginning to think about changing this blog to focus on Kickstarter or other crowdfunded sites, as this is where the best new technology is coming from. Forget those big companies, man.
Now, the MiiPC (not related to the Miis from Nintendo Wii) is an interesting machine as it is a mini computer made to be connected to a big screen. From here, the user, and it is designed for younger ones, can access the Internet and Android 4.2.
On the inside, the MiiPC has a Marvell 1.2GHZ dual core CPU, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of storage, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and 1080p HDMI output. You will notice that there is no keyboard, mouse, or screen provided, just this sideways hourglass look with an SD card slot.
I believe that the purpose of this device is to allow young kids access to a computer while the grown-ups monitor the MiiPC with an app on the parent’s smartphone. The smartphone can turn off the application on the MiiPC, and MiiPC can be set up for customizable permissions for each kid.
If you want in on this, head on over to the Kickstarter site and lay down $99. It is pretty close to its pledge fund.
