Brydge Review: Stone Pro Thunderbolt 3 Multiport Hub and Stone II USB-C Multiport Hub

September 16, 2020 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

Ah, nothing like a good Brydge product. The first time that I saw them, they were making these keyboards that turn an ordinary Apple tablet into a laptop. Yeah, it practically made an iMac out of an iPad.

It looks like Brydge is branching out (or should I say bridging out) with a lot of very diverse and useful products, and we had the chance to try out two of them with the Stone II USB-C Multiport Hub and Stone Pro Thunderbolt 3 Multiport Hub.

Stone II USB-C Multiport Hub for Windows and MacOS Review

Well, it is always great to have one of these cool mutliport hubs, and I have reviewed several in the past. This particular one is made for just one monitor, and it had about seven ports.

It actually has six ports, really. As one of the ports is made for the included USB-C to USB-C cord. As for the rest, it has an Ethernet port, and I just suddenly realized that my laptop doesn’t even have one of those. I mean, my laptop has an HDMI port, and so does the Stone II. Oh, it also has another USB-C and 3 USB-A ports, and you can’t have enough of the USB-A ports, I’ve discovered.

I mentioned that this is made for both MacOS and Windows, but its aesthetic appears to be made with Apple with its metallic look. If this is for you, feel free to head over to the Brydge site and lay down $149.99 for it.

Stone Pro Thunderbolt 3 Multiport Hub for Windows and MacOS Review

So let’s talk about the similar product with the Stone Pro Thunderbolt 3 Multiport Hub. I can tell you that this is an upgrade as it will support two displays and it has 11 ports.

Again, it is actually ten ports, as one of the ports is made for the power cord. By the way, this comes with two power cords, so it should work no matter what country that you are in. So yes, you will need to plug it in and it had one of those brick things to do that. Then use the USB-C to USB-C to connect to your computer, but the Stone Pro had 87+ watts of power for charging your computer.

So let’s talk about the ports that it has that are useful. Well, you have an SD card slot, Audio/mic port, Ethernet port, HDMI display port, 2 Thunderbolt ports, and 3 USB-A ports.

So yes, this is a very great product, and it is available for about $239.99, but this seems to be a markdown from $329.99. So I guess someone switched the digits, right? You can get it on the Brydge site right now before that price changes once again.
