We are definitely no stranger to portable batteries here at TheGeekChurch.com. It seems like we get one every week, the last one being the ET-NP056K, fourth in our Eagle Trilogy. At this point, I am going to go with the usual anecdote of how we have had our mobile devices run out of power at an inopportune moment, and we all need that extra bit of juice, and we all need a portable mobile battery, blah blah blah….
What happens next might sound a little negative, but this is only because I have done this review before. I can honestly say that most of these mobile chargers are the same, hold the same amount of juice, and are about the right proportional weight that they need to be. There is very little else that I can say about a portable mobile battery if you have never seen one before. I will recommend these ones from Digital Foci as much as I would any other mobile power supply, which is highly, because they are needed.
Let’s start with the Battery Porter 5200 (seen above right), named because of its ability to hold 5200mAh. (This is a tried and true naming convention.) It has the dimensions of 3.8″ x 1.7″ x 0.9″, and has an USB port output of 5V/1000mA max. I’ll leave it up to you to decide if those statistics matter, and you should know that this one includes a built-in LED flashlight. It will even blink on and off if you like.
The other is the Battery Porter 8000 (seen to the immediate left), and I’ll let you guess how many mAh it has. The dimensions are slightly larger at 4.2″ x 3.0″ x 0.8″, and it has two USB port outputs capable of 5V/1000mA (5V/2000mA max if only one port is used). No flashlight this time.
Each of these come with an AC Power Adapter as well as a Car DC Power Adapter. They are available for purchase on the Digital Foci website with the 5200 costing $39.95 and the 8000 costing $59.00.
