I will have to admit that I have never been to CEATAC, that is one of the big tech shows, like IFA, that I have never attended. That, and the Mobile World Congress. Dang, I really need to leave the country.

Speaking about taking big steps, you might enjoy this concept car cockpit from our old friends at Pioneer. You will notice that it really looks like some control center from Star Trek.

This starts with facial recognition as well as biometric sensors to see that the driver is who he or she says that he/she is. You don’t need a key, just a button.

There is also a monitor on the back of the car seat to show vital statistics like the heart rate, and I suppose that will keep you calm. Apparently, you can use your phone while you are driving, with only gestures so you aren’t too distracted. When you arrive at your destination, the Pioneer cockpit will actually remind you not to leave your phone behind.

Okay, I know that I will never see this cockpit thing in my lifetime, but reality could surprise me.
