Will NASA grow plants on the moon by 2015?

December 5, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

Terraformed_Moon_1_Phase_by_Lib3rtyPrimeI used to think that a lot of things were impossible, but now I see what an age of science-fiction that we are living in. If Amazon wants to use drones to deliver our packages, then I suppose NASA growing plants on the moon is also somewhat believable.

I don’t know if I reported on this or not, but apparently someone has planned a trip to the moon via robotic probe. I believe that Google is sponsoring this race, and I’m sure NASA will be involved somewhere in the process. After all, they were the only way to get to space for the past few decades.

NASA wants to put send up some seedlings of basil, turnips, and flowers in the moon to see if they will grow. Keep in mind that the radiation levels of the lunar surface are pretty up there, so who know if these new moon-plants would thrive. Still, the idea of luna terraforming sounds really good to me. Now, I once heard that you could terraform Mars if you just planted enough trees on it, but I am not certain if you can do that to the moon.

Ah. You never know what the future will bring, right? In this case, I would very much like to see if this moon terraforming is even remotely possible.
