Nest is killing the Revolv Hub

April 5, 2016 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

revolv_hub_and_app_smart_home_automation-100387760-origI’m sure that you have probably heard of Nest, that smart thermostat that you can control remotely. Google bought the company in 2014, and then Nest bought this company Revolv which sold this hub to allow its users to control the lights of their homes.

It has been a lot of controversy because Nest apparently was not interested in Revolv technology, but just wanted to get Revolv’s engineers on Nest projects. So much so that Revolv hub and application won’t even work after May 15, 2016.

In other words, Nest, is just going to let this device die of procrastination. If it simply stopped supporting Revolv devices, then devices could have found security flaws in Revolv devices and make other people’s electronic devices go wacky, I guess.

At this point, there are a lot of products that can control your homes in a connected fashion, like the one from Belkin and one from iHome that I personally reviewed.

So, I suppose this is a lesson that companies become outdated, and just let their own products die. Is this is lesson on how corporations screw up, or…you know what, what is the lesson here?
