When you think of a printer, what do you think of? Chances are, the image in your mind is a big box that requires a lot real estate on your desk. That hasn’t changed since the eighties, and they have only shrunk a little.

This project from students at the Jerusalem College of Technology takes the idea of a printer and makes it very, very portable. This Pocket Printer is essentially a small robot on a printer, and it works on whatever paper you are willing to put on a flat surface. So the next time you need to make a quick print-out, you can just set up in any flat place.

The Pocket Printer roams around the paper to do a print-out. In case you are curious, the cartridge of ink can do about 1,000 pages, and can do an hour’s worth of work on a full charge. Now I don’t know how long it takes to print a full page, so I don’t want to testify for its speed.

This is one of those Kickstarter project, and it has succeeded its initial goal of $50,000, and it is now on to a $400,000 goal that it will probably succeed at.
