For some reason, there appears to be some odd trend towards curved screens. In smartphones, LG has the Flex, and Samsung has the GALAXY ROUND.
I suppose that it just makes sense to have televisions with curved screens, and Samsung has them. At least, they will have one at CES 2014. If you aren’t familiar with CES, it is a big electronics trade show that happens every January in Las Vegas. All the big electronics companies will be there, and I plan to be there as well, reporting on what I will see.
For example, I will surely stop by Samsung’s booth to see a 105-inch curved UHD. Yes, that is pretty big, and it can apparently give two times vivid images when viewed from the side as well as “the betst possible TV viewing experience from any angle”. This is due to a Quadmatic Picture engine to deliver UHD-level picture quality, and it is good for 11 million pixels (5120 x 2160) screen resolution with an aspect ratio of 21:9.
Well, I am not certain what the price will be on this, but I am certain it is more than I can afford. Still, I look forward to seeing it, but I’m sure the pictures of it will not do it justice.
