Makerzoid 4-Product STEM Robot Kits Review!

August 23, 2024 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

Introduction (Does It Do What It Should)

Normally, when I do a review of multiple products from the same company, I usually do an individual review. In the case of Makerzoid, these four kits are very similar, and I would rather discuss them as a whole. As I was writing the article, I realized that I could talk about the kits individually.

Here’s the thing about the names of these products: I don’t think each product has an individual name, as it feels like their name is really a description, and a long one at that. I can’t help but feel that their “names/descriptors” are just helpful SEO. These are the names that I just copied from the websites, and if you skip to the videos, they are in that order.

Something you heard me say many times is how similar the Makerzoid kits are to LEGO, specifically LEGO Technic. However, it is more specific to LEGO MINDSTORMS. If you aren’t familiar with Technic or MINDSTORMS, you will discover that your traditional thoughts of LEGO bricks are shattered. Technic/MINDSTORMS are more dependent on Beams rather than bricks, and there are Connector Pegs and Axles that hold them together. It’s different than stacking traditional LEGO bricks, and there is another way to make creations with motors and gears.

I could write books about LEGO Technic and MINDSTORMS, and you probably know that I already have. Maybe I’ll feel like putting the links in here during another draft. Now, the Technic LEGO kits have Power Functions, so that you can take control with motorized creations with special remote controls. LEGO MINDSTORMS have something very similar with a CPU brick with other types of intelligent bricks. I will say that Makerzoid has the best of both LEGO worlds with motors, intelligent bricks, and taking control of them via smart device.

As you can imagine, the Makerzoid kits come with an app, and this app has all kinds of instructions of models. All you have to do is check to see what kit you have, and there are all kinds of models that you can build. Then, after that, you can take control, as some of them have controllers that Makerzoid has built right in, like the really cool SUV. Yeah, there is a video of me doing that.

I really only built one model for each kit, and part of that is because of the time considerations. There really is a lot you can do with this, and I want to talk about the host control brick that can do Bluetooth, and there are 7 colors of LED lights, sensors, and two built-in motors. It is powered by 3 AA batteries, and it is helpful for creating creations that can walk and there is this kind of Blocky type of coding for making constructions do all kinds of things.

Makerzoid 200-in-1 Scratch Jr Coding Robot Kit – STEM Smart Robot Premium Educational Toy – Junior Programming Learning Kit – DIY Robotics Kit for Kids

So, what about this next kit? Well, if you are looking for something with the potential of 200 creations, then you have something. I decided to build this car, and then I discovered that I could program it. This is type of programming I didn’t really didn’t experiment too much with, but I believe that you can set up a structured program, also known as Scratch Jr., so you can do just about anything.

Something that I think the other programming kit came with was sensors. The next Makerzoid kit also comes with sensors, but we will get to that. The main intelligent brick that it comes with is a Bluetooth motor, and it is powered by 2 AAA batteries. I think I mentioned this in the video, but I couldn’t get it to work with certain types of AAA batteries. The motor has an electric mode with tactile buttons for manual precision, an intelligent mode with interactive engagement with the IR sensor, and then Bluetooth for some real control.

Makerzoid Smart Robot 72-in-1 Intelligent DIY Robotics Kit STEM Toy Educational Leaning Kit Building Robot Kit Birthday Gift for Kids 6+

Okay, now here’s this Smart Robot kit that can apparently do 72+ creations. Yeah, that is a bit of a downgrade, but I have to admit, the selections seem to be really musical, for some reason. Yeah, you can build these instrument-playing guys, and also these working out guys. You can also build some great agriculture stuff as well.

Something that I forgot to report is how these instructions are part of the app and have 3D and 2D models. This particular kit has the same motor as the other kit, and runs on 2 AAA batteries. I think this kit might be made for smaller kids, but I’m not sure.

Oh yeah, I forgot to talk about the sensors. You can see me demonstrate it in the video, and how that when I pass my hand before the sensor, the model starts to move.

Makerzoid Programmable Toys Robot Master, 200-in-1 Coding Robot Kit, STEM Robotics Kit Learning Kit for Kids

The last kit is another 200-in-1 guy, and yeah, I built that dinosaur that you see there. There is a sensor there, but I couldn’t figure out how to work it. I do like how it seems they made the T-Rex like it’s riding a bike. Nice.

Oh, this kit came with one very intelligent brick, two motors, two sensors, and I don’t even think I talked about all the cool diverse bricks that happen here. Yeah, there are a lot of pieces here that look like Technic LEGO pieces.

By the way, I forgot to say that there seems to be some course or something. then there is some kind of poster or something showing what you can do. Then, you can do a lot of cool stuff with the gears, axles, and everything else. Yeah, it is a lot.

Facts About The Company

I saw that this appears to be found by some man who really wants to bring the joy of STEM to his son. I have to admit, I love hearing stories like that. It turned into Shenzhen Tongyi Technology Co Ltd, and recently turned into the STEM kits in 2018. In 2021, Makerzoid was set up as an advanced educational and high-tech incubation brand. Whatever the case, they are definitely set up for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).

What Does This Company Make?

There’s about nine of these STEM kits, and I got to work with 4 of them. Maybe I’ll get a chance to work with the other ones.

Just the Specs, Man

If you’re the type that needs this info, this section is for you!

I don’t think these things have any stat sheets, so I can’t really offer anything more.

If there is something on this that I didn’t cover, please let me know.

What Do the Reviews Say?

I checked out the reviews of Makerzoid on Amazon, and they are pretty high at at least 4 stars out of five.

Okay, Get To The Unboxing Already!

Maybe I Want It, But Is There Anything Else Like It? Maybe For A Lower Price? Please?

If you want a lower price, I will tell you where not to go: LEGO. Yeah, as much as I love LEGO, I will have to say that Makerzoid will get you pieces that can accommodate LEGO, at a very lower price. Oh, there is also Jimu Robots, which I haven’t reviewed in a long time, but I wrote a book on that.
