I usually try not to report on rumors on this blog, and there has been one going around about Amazon creating a “game-box” for the television. I believe this game-box would be good for Amazon video content as well as Android apps, like those on the Kindle Fire.
I suppose this controller is probably the best proof for an Amazon “game-box”, is the fact there is a controller with the Amazon label. It looks similar to the one on the OnLive gaming system, and I don’t blame you if you aren’t familiar with that. You will note the addition of the DVR buttons, and I am not certain what the other buttons do, or if there is a home version of it.
In a related story, there is apparent controller unveiled by Valve for the Steam Machine. If you haven’t heard of the Steam Machine, I don’t think it is out yet. I will have to say that the shape of it looks very similar to the Amazon controller, but I have no idea where the controllers are with those discs and stuff there.
So I guess today is what, controller day? We’ll see what the future hold.
