If you are not familiar with Breakout, it was an Atari game that has seen its share of imitators. It concerns a line, a circle, and a multi-colored brick wall.
The goal is simple. Deflect the circle so it hits the wall, thereby eliminating a brick. If you can do it right, you can knock off multiple bricks with one diagonal deflection. Sometimes the ball goes behind the wall and does a lot of damage. When that happens, you are rockin’ the world.
The reason why I bring this up is because if you do a search for “Atari Breakout”, and then hit the “Images” option, you can play the game for yourself. Yes, you could do it now and waste a lot of time. Too bad the bricks on the wall can’t be arranged to be any image.
The game is a result of an “easter egg” within Google. You can find a lot of them in programs like this. Considering Google once allowed users to play Pac-Man, I was wondering if this was a celebration of the game. Apparently, it isn’t, and I hope that you can play this easter egg by the time this article posts.
