Introduction (Does It Do What It Should)
The answer to that question is an “oh yes”, because it is Guitar Controller from PDP Gaming. Yes, it is a guitar controller, and no, it is no retro.
If you a certain age, I don’t know if I have to tell you about the age of music games. You know, games like Guitar Hero and RockBand. I mean, you have to love the whole fad, and I was surprised how quickly that died. I mean, I loved how you can push the frets on the guitar controller and strum, and you are given a reward for playing the music right. In the case of the Riffmaster, there are actually two sets of frets.
Now, my son has recently discovered a different type of music game with the Main Stage on Fortnite. He wanted to try it out with a controller, and so I was very pleased to try this out from PDP Gaming. I’m very certain that we reviewed PDP Gaming before, like a while ago.
This thing has a 36 hour battery life, and it has a wireless connection that will link to the Playstation immediately. Check out the video to see how easy it is, or at least was for me and my son. He was the one who set it up, actually. By the way, you might enjoy the video if you want to see two generations of music playing gamers. I have to admit that it was difficult for me to get into this, and I would have to play a lot more to hit every note precisely.
One thing that we forgot to focus on was the analog stick, as it looked like he needed the controller to get into the game. Is it possible to just open up the Playstation and get into the game with the Riffmaster alone? Leave a comment if you know.
Another feature is a 3.5 audio jack, and you can adjust volume with the audio controls on the D-pad. If you want to get this Riffmaster for itself, go to the PDP Gaming site and pay about $129.99 (marked down to $109.99 at the time of this writing).
Facts About The Company
This is what I found on the company website:
We believe that design-forward, high-performance gear should be as unique and accessible as the gaming community itself.
And this is their mission statement:
To provide products unmatched in design, features and quality for the user experience.
So yeah, they make gaming accessories.
What Does This Company Make?
A long time ago, I had some PDP products sent to me, and it came in the form of this metal suitcase with controllers for the Wii, Xbox, and whatever Playstation was around at that time. These controllers had the ability to glow, and it was very awesome. I wish I could find the link to the article that I wrote about it, because it was so long ago. I’m not going to link to the articles from around that time, so just do a search for PDP on the website.
I did review a Victrix controller that I might have mistaken for Turtle Beach, and I believe that PDP is under the Turtle Beach umbrella.

Okay, Get To The Unboxing Already!
Maybe I Want It, But Is There Anything Else Like It? Maybe For A Lower Price? Please?
Sadly, I haven’t really reviewed a lot of guitar controllers. Like I said before, the music genre kind of died, so I was actually surprised it was brought back with Fortnite.
