I remember years ago, I attended a video game conference and saw EyePet for the first time. It was an augmented reality program where you create a pet and play with it on the screen. You can read that one here, back when I was writing for Hubpages.
At E3 this year, Sony showed off its augmented reality game made for the upcoming PS4. This is the Playroom, which uses augmented reality to do some interesting things. There is a video of it above, and I think there are some pretty interesting potentials for this.
You will notice that this Playroom allows for playing with robots on the floor, not to mention some very interesting versions of Pong. You can also play with a robot who can apparently set your hair on fire.
I would imagine that you have to program some sort of Playstation Eye in order to get this to work. I haven’t heard anything from Sony saying that they were working on this, but if the new Xbox is coming with a Kinect, I’m sure that Playstation will have its own included or not included accessories.
I honestly don’t know if there is any market for more games like this. I am trying to think creatively on how to incorporate this on other popular titles. Could an FPS use this?
