Introduction (Does It Do What It Should)
I first saw the Komutr Earbuds at CES 2025 last January, and I am not certain if I did a Tik Tok or YouTube short about it. It certainly is one of the more unusual products that I saw at the conference, and one that I was glad to review.
The short story is that the Komutr (I believe is pronounced like Commuter) is a pair of earbuds that can magnetically stick to that back of a phone or case that has a magnetic lock on the back of it. So if you have something with Qi enabled capability or an iPhone with MagSafe, you should have this click in there.
You can recharge them with a USB C port, and I have to say that the sound is quite good. You can watch the video if you want to see me react to that, but it really is difficult me to depict good audio when I can control all sound when I make the video.
By the way, you can use the case to lock in and then flip out its flap for a kickstand. This allows you to watch the videos in landscape mode while you have some good audio. It’s just good design, really.
I talk about how you can do the touch controls in the video, but let me clarify. Tapping once is a play/pause. Tapping twice is a next song or previous song, then the tap left earbuds x 3 for play the previous track, and the tap right Earbuds x 3 for playing the next track. Oh, and if you tap and hold for 2 seconds, it is answering and hanging up a call.
I don’t really have a price for this as yet, because this is just starting out.
