SMS Audio recently partnered with Intel in order to create the BioSport In-Ear headphones. Why Intel inside? Because these headphones can do what a fitness band can do, but without charging.
Somehow these headphones can track the user’s heart rate. It can also take this information and pass it through the audio jack and pass it through a smartphone to be used on an app called RunKeeper. In case you don’t know, RunKeeper is owned by SMS Audio, and it looks like this app will take this heart rate and use it somehow.
In addition to the heart-rate reading, the BioSport earbuds have IPX4 sweat and water resistance. This is certainly a must for anyone who wants to use a device like this. I can’t help but wonder if I will see lots more products like this.
These BioSport earbuds should be available sometime in Q4, for a price of around $150.
