Drift Light Smart Bulb helps one to sleep

May 14, 2014 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

drift-light-bulb-1When it comes to the light bulb, the tech hasn’t really changed since the days of Thomas Alva Edison. The Drift Light from Saffron certainly changes that, and the tech isn’t really complicated.

I have seen some “smart” light bulbs that you can control with a smartphone, but these can be pretty costly and are good for dimming, which the Drift Light will do for you at a lower price.

Here’s how it works: if you flip the switch on the light with the Drift Light bulb twice, it will flicker once. Then, after 37 minutes, it will dim until it turns off. Flip the switch three times, and it will dim until it goes low after 37 minutes.

Why is this important? Because studies at the University of Toronto and Harvard revealed that blue light suppresses melatonin, a natural sleep agent for the body. The way the Drift Light works is that it dims so it promotes relaxation and so you can drift off to sleep.

I am assuming this is where the name of Drift Light comes from. It really is a fantastic piece of tech, and it is available for pre-order on the Saffron site now here.
