It is quite apparent to me that children are learning more and more through computers. I honestly think most learning in the future will happen on smartphones and tablets. This particular accessory from Osmo is very much prepared for this.
Osmo is the small red attachment that you can see on the top of the iPad in the image. Osmo’s New Play Movement works with what is known as Reflective Artificial Intelligence Technology. Basically, you put this device with the mirrors atop and iPad on a stand, and it seems to know what is going on.
You can watch the video after the jump and you can see three of its programs. The first is Tangram, which allows you to make puzzle pieces into shapes, and it knows when you do it right. Then there is Words, which recognizes the letters that you use directly under it. Then there is Newton, which is very cool because it involves falling objects that you can control by drawing lines. I wish I could describe that easier, but I recommend looking at the video and seeing how neat it really is.
You can pre-order Osmo for about $49 (it’s 50 percent as of this writing). You can find more information about it here.
