I’ve seen some really interesting educational toys devoted to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), but I do have to admire one from a company called Technology Will Save Us. This is is the Arcade Coder, and it may look like a 12 x 12 board of multi-colored LED buttons, because that is what it is.

All right, I am clearly under-selling this, but you have admit, for a toy, this may seem very boring. However, isn’t that all toys without a little bit of application and imagination. In case of the Arcade Coder, it is a game console to teach minds both young and old to create, code, and modify games for playing and learning.

There are several games pre-loaded that are ready to play if coding is not your forte, but there is a free Games studio app that can be downloaded for the iPad for tutorials. This Game Studio has about 500 plus hours of digital content so that it is possible to learn some block-coding and game mechanics. There are classic games like Pong, Snake, as well as Whack-A-Mole.
