I know that yesterday I talked about a video game franchise that is on the cusp of dying (Metroid, please don’t let it die). Today I’m going to talk about a video game that is on the cusp of setting a new standard.
What are seeing here in the image is a screenshot from a named called Loading Human. Do not confuse this with Almost Human, a series that sadly is planned to be killed, but will hopefully be resuscitated by its fanbase. I’m not certain what the plotline of Loading Human is, but it is the gameplay that has already sold me.
The game is designed for the Oculus Rift, which I have reported on before, as well as Project Morpheus, coming soon. Loading Human is essentially one of those games from the early nineties, like Myst, which was big on point-and-click. This one has two winning upgrades.
First it has the Unreal Engine 4, which means the graphics are moving, dynamic, and awesome. Second, it involves playing using your hands instead of pointing and clicking. So if you have to look behind something, you literally pick up that item and look behind it. I have no idea if it “feels” like you are picking it up, but I sure hope so.
This is a terrific project, and it is also a Kickstarter one. It needs $30,000 to make it work, and I hope it makes it’s goal. I sure want to play it.
