Virtuix Omni poised to making gaming a more physical experience

June 6, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

OmniThis summer, I had myself a little bit of a resolution as I want to inject a little bit of adventure in every day. My daughter loves this, and I love this poster for this Virtuix Omni that invites you to “Step Into Adventure”.

In this case, it is literally true. I don’t know if you are looking at anything but that Tomb Raider wannabe, but she is standing on this thing that I can only describe as a 360 treadmill.

Yes, it is true. This apparatus holds you around the waist, and, with the help of special shoes, you can run any direction that you want. If you slap on an Oculus Rift, you pretty much have an access to your own private virtual world.

I think it is interesting that video games were becoming more of a physical playground. I mean, remember Wii Sports, and all the fun physical activities that the Kinect promised us?

Imagine if all video games could be played on the Virtuix Omni. I guarantee that gamers would be more fit than most are now. Can you imagine all the sweat this will generate, not to mention the fun experience this will be? All you need now is an ARIAG suit.

The Virtuix Omni just made a lot of money on Kickstarter. Originally, it wanted $150,000 but it made $500,000, in one day. I have no idea if that is some kind of record, but that is pretty impressive. Find out more on the official Kickstarter page.
