Acer’s new laptop is apparently worthy of the Federation of Planets

April 23, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

I can’t remember where I heard this, but I was watching some video the other day that said that “we have already seen the future with Star Trek, so now we are just waiting to catch up to it”. I will have to admit that our cell-phone culture with early flip-up clamshell phones are similar to the communicator Kirk used to contact the Enterprise.

Star Trek fans are probably rejoicing in the sequel to the Star Trek reboot a few summers ago. The preview to Star Trek: Into Darkness look a little darker and more dystopian which I welcome in a Star Trek universe.

Acer is claiming that their new laptop would be good enough for Star Trek, and I consider that a big boast. Considering that our technology from two centuries ago is not really used today, I don’t think we will be using this Acer laptop in the 23rd century.

I don’t really see what is different about this Acer except it has a display that can tilt outward like a regular display. I actually think that is a good idea, but to say it will last into Star Trek era is completely false advertising.

But hey, the last Star Trek movie had the Nokia logo in it, and young Kirk played “Sabotage” by the Beastie Boys. Nice to see some things last the test of time, even if it is two centuries later.
