Remember when it was just the three networks giving you your favorite shows? Yeah, that was before Fox, and I still remember that time. Now, two major companies are planning to give us content. I’m not talking about Hulu, Amazon, and Netflix. I’m sure you already know about awesome shows over there, but now Yahoo and Microsoft is getting in on the act.
Yahoo is apparently planning on doing four comedy series that have the traditional half-hour running time of most sit-coms. That is about all we know at this point, other than the per-episode budget will be about $700,000 to a few million per episode.
As for Microsoft, I have some word on that. There is plans for a sketch show starring Sarah Silverman, a Seth Green stop-animation series like Robot Chicken, and a weird one called Humans, about replicants. These are of course, rumors, and there is another rumor that these shows could be made for the Xbox.
Okay, so are we getting to the point where any big company has to create TV shows? I suppose that HP and Dell will have their exclusive content, along with carriers like Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T. Why not? This is a weird world we live in.
